A Deeper Look At Focusrite's History

Focusrite
Focusrite Scarlett Interfaces
Focusrite Scarlett interfaces are arguably the most versatile audio interfaces in use today, featuring six different I/O configurations to suit any space, setup, or application. This line of audio interfaces puts Focusrite’s third generation of high-quality mic preamps to work, along with additional features to accommodate various signals and inputs.

The Scarlett models vary in size and features, from the modest Scarlett Solo all the way up to the rack-mountable Scarlett 18i20 with talkback functionality and ADAT capabilities to expand I/O. Every Scarlett model comes with software and useful plugins to get started quickly without any obstacles.

Need more inputs? The Scarlett OctoPre (available with or without analog compression features) is an eight-channel mic pre-expansion featuring Scarlett’s class-leading preamps and precision Focusrite A/D conversion.

Focusrite Clarett Interfaces
The Clarett line of interfaces is Thunderbolt-friendly and features Focusrite’s highest-quality mic preamps, optimized for high gain and low distortion. Decades of analog circuit design experience applied around 24-bit/192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion delivers pristine sound.

Clarett’s Air mode simulates the airy frequency curve of Focusrite’s transformer-based ISA line of mic preamps. This lineup is another prime example of Focusrite’s straightforward, yet highly capable, audio interfaces ready to deliver crystal clear sound quality for your projects.

Similar to the Scarlett OctoPre, the Clarett OctoPre offers eight channels of Focusrite’s pristine preamps via ADAT, including the signature Air effect as well as inserts on every channel.

Focusrite Red Range
The Focusrite Red range offers the ultimate in digital conversion, remote-controlled mic pres, and built-in monitor controls, coupled with very low latency Pro Tools | HD™, Thunderbolt™, and Dante interface technology. The Red Evolution mic pres can be easily and accurately monitored while recording without distracting latency or noise.

The low-latency, highly reliable drivers provide seamless integration with many DAWs, while the DigiLink Mini ports allow connection directly to Pro Tools | HDX, Pro Tools | HD native, and even older Pro Tools | HD TDM systems.

Red all-in-one interfaces come in two different configurations, 8PRE and 16LINE, both of which feature 32X32 Dante I/O. The interfaces feature Focusrite’s digitally controlled, Air-enabled, Red Evolution mic preamps.

The Red Evolution preamps offer the greatest clarity, lowest latency, and expansive connectivity options with the ability to achieve the sound of the transformer-based ISA preamps. With the Host Mode feature, switch between any DAW of your choice.

Focusrite RedNet Interfaces
Focusrite is a lead designer of digital audio networking RedNet interfaces that deliver top-quality sound. Advanced conversion allows for extremely transparent sound to travel across flexible Dante audio networks. These audio-over-IP (AoIP) systems carry quality sound over long distances with extensive dynamic range and 24-bit, 192kHz sampling.

Everything from the ISA ADN2 to the high-performance RedNet D64R harbors the best performance of AoIP systems available today. Focusrite stands behind every circuit in the box, promising continued reliability even when the unexpected arises.

Focusrite ISA Microphone Preamps
The current ISA range of mic pres is rooted in the legacy of the creation of the ISA 110 installed in George Martin’s Neve console at Air Studios. The core models born from iconic Focusrite consoles live on through Focusrite’s modern ISA products, which use the Lundahl LL1538 input transformer and a custom Zobel network to craft their sought-after sound.

Whether you’re an artist, engineer, or producer, you’ll appreciate the incredible sound of the ISA preamps, along with multi-channel A-D cards, independent D-I inputs, and Dante compatibility. No matter which model you choose, true ISA sound is guaranteed.
