Avid S4 Module Glossary
The semi-modular nature of the Avid S4 means that you're able to build out your control surface to fit the way you like to work. Avid enables customers the ability to create a surface with up to three Channel Strip Modules, four Display Modules and up to three other option modules (Attention Knob Modules, Post and/or Joystick). Here is a breakdown of each module that can be installed in a S4 set-up.

Master Touch
The Control Surface Engine
As the heart of the S4, the Master Touch Module is your tool for controlling plug-ins, monitoring and more. Take charge of your mix and control parameters with this 12.1” multipoint touchscreen, eight rotary encoders and additional knobs and keys.

S4 Automation
Navigate and Automate
Navigating and automating large scale projects is made easy with the Master Automation Module. You'll have full control with a shuttle/jog wheel, focus fader, automation control, numeric keypad and additional keys and switches.

S4 Joystick
Surround Sound Control
If you're mixing a surround sound or immersive audio project, the Joystick Module is a necessary part of your job. Mix with precision by using this module's dual touch-sensitive joystick and TFT and OLED displays to guide your process.

Fast Track Your Mix
Avid's S4 Post Module fast tracks the completion of post projects by offering quick switching between recorded tracks and your inputs. The module features two rows of 10 PEC/DIRECT paddles to help make sure your inputs sound identical prior to punching in to record.

S4 CSM Channel Strip
Versatile, Tactile Control
The Avid S4 CSM Channel Strip Module gives users the ability to control level, plug-ins and other elements of mixes with eight channel faders, 32 knobs (four per channel) and additional keys and switches. The semi-modular nature of the S4 allows for up to three CSMs to be used in a configuration, which totals up to a 24 fader design.
