Greg Miner came to Vintage King with a bold vision, inspired by world-class studios like Blackbird, Skywalker Sound, and Manifold Recording.

“I wanted to combine the technical sophistication of those studios with a serene outdoor environment, plenty of natural light, and large open spaces,” Greg says.

Through close collaboration with Vintage King, Greg’s vision came to life. Nestled in the peaceful surroundings of Vernon Hills, the TEC Award-nominated Philharmonic Studios features a cutting-edge control room with an API 2448, a Dolby Atmos mix room, a dedicated overdub and mixing suite, and a spacious live room designed to inspire creativity.

Prime Studio owner Gerhard Buchbauer has worked with Vintage King for years and utilizes the Vintage King Tech Shop to restore and maintain his vintage gear collection. Most recently, Gerhard brought a Neve 8078 console to VK for a full refurbishment.

Tech Shop Manager Cedric Yee and Senior Technician Rich Hunt breathed new life into the 8078, fully restoring the desk and its PSUs. The team replaced the patch bays, updated the cabling, and upgraded the old automation to a Flying Fader II system.

“The tech guys at VK did a tremendous job,” says Gerhard. “It’s a pristine desk, fits seamlessly in our room, fulfills our needs, and works perfectly.”

Zach Seivers partnered with Vintage King to create a Dolby Atmos-certified studio that combines advanced immersive technology with a streamlined, creative workflow tailored to post-production work.

“I wanted to build a space that not only met the highest technical standards but also provided an inspiring, efficient workflow for immersive mixing,” Zach says.

Thanks to Vintage King’s expertise, SNAPSOUND features a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos mix room with an Avid S6 control surface and Meyer Sound monitors that deliver cinematic depth and clarity while supporting a flexible mixing environment.
